Basic GK Training Session – Weds. 11th January 2023

On Wednesday 11th January 2023, we have organised a basic Goalkeeper Training session for Women’s Recreational Football players, who are new to the game or those who would like to have some basic training, ready for when you’re asked to go in goal, as often happens in Recreational Football!  We are running this session, supported by Sussex County FA and the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Legacy Programme, to help increase the safety and knowledge of players going in goal.

We have three experienced goalkeepers who will each have their own short session planned around the pitch.  These will include:

Goal 1 – Kev Page – How not to be afraid of the ball and basic handling techniques.

Goal 2 – Grace Turpin – Positioning, including coming out of the area.

Goal 3 – Josh Page – Footwork and small movements.

Kev is the husband of one of our COGS and has over 30 years experience in the game and will tell you he has also played in goal in 2 FA Cup games!  Kev coaches at Alfold FC.

Grace has played in America and Australia and attends our COGS Advanced session.

Josh (Kev’s Son) plays in goal for the U23s at Alfold FC and has made appearances for the first XI.

We will split everyone into 3 groups and each group will spend time at each of the different Goal stations.

If you are able to access goalkeeper gloves, please bring them with you.  Alternatively, we will have some pairs available to use, as well.

You can book the session through this link:  https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=kCXJRcbM-UaA_5_I2e3eOdsTAos994JKlkKVgCMxZ3lUQ0xKMzRaVFNGOFZDRFM1SzlMUVA3STQxNS4u

Or, you can scan the QR code on the poster.

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the session so we can organise everyone.  Parking will be in the main car park at Crawley Town FC and then you walk round to the back of the Stadium and the 3G is opposite the Redz Bar.  It’s NOT the 3G as you drive in on the right.  The postcode is RH11 9RX.

If you have any questions, please email cogscrawley@gmail.com or you can call Carol Bates on 07837523370.

We look forward to seeing you there!
