Due to the new Meadowbank Stadium, in Dorking, not being ready, the Tournament was hastily moved to Goals Wimbledon and thanks to Jon Burr at Surrey FA, we were still able to play! Instead of 7v7, the games were now 5v5, so plenty of energy needed!
As Women’s Recreational Football grows, there are women who are coming back into the game and therefore these tournaments have slightly changed in format to cater for more experienced players who are coming back into the game.
This time, there were two categories and this will probably be the format for the future. Beginners/improvers in one group and Advanced/more experienced players in another. This works really well and both abilities were well represented. 17 teams altogether enjoyed playing 5 a-side on a cold Saturday morning.
COGS had 3 teams in the Advanced group where there were 9 teams. Winners were AFC Wimbledon with Met. Police getting the runners up spot. COBS Blue won the Beginner’s group and Woking Diamonds were runners up.
Another great day of football and we’re looking forward to the next one!
