The First Crawley Old Girls’ Session – 16th April 2015.

On the 16th April 2015, after many posts on social media asking if any “old girls” who had passed “spring chicken” age wanted to come along, 10 ladies turned up at the 3G pitch at Crawley Town FC, not knowing exactly what they were letting themselves in for!

The premise was to come along and have some fun, while learning to play football.  No experience necessary, just a willingness to enjoy the session and meet new friends.   The first session was learning how to kick and control a ball properly!

I think it’s fair to say that the footballs ended up everywhere and no one really had too much of a clue on how to dribble the ball, let alone control it……

The session was taken by Claire Burrage-Edwards who made it a fun atmosphere, whilst making sure that we definitely warmed up properly, as many of those old muscles probably hadn’t been used in years.  A few warm up exercises were given names to keep the humour going and the whole hour went so quickly that most wanted to do it all over again.   The COGs were born…….
